What I've Been Working On Lately

I was in Val's Alice in Wonderland Apron Swap and I actually got my package out BEFORE the deadline. That is quite an accomplishment for me! So anyway, here's what I made for my secret partner.

My version of the Queen of Hearts apron.
The hearts on the pocket are some that I crocheted.

An Alice in Wonderland patchwork bag for tea party goodness.

Heart shaped hotpads to take the cookies out of the oven
and crocheted dishcloths to wash the dishes after the party.

I also sent my partner some sprinkles for the cookies and tea for the tea party.
I also included some Alice in Wonderland little gift cards, a Mad Hatter Pin and
a Queen of Hearts iron on.

I hope my partner likes everything. I had so much fun making everything!

Do you Want to Get Creative for a Good Cause?

1,500,000 innocent Children died in the Holocaust

In an effort to remember them, Holocaust Museum Houston is collecting 1.5 million handmade butterflies. http://www.hmh.org/ed_butterfly1.shtml

The butterflies will eventually comprise a breath-taking exhibition, currently scheduled for Spring 2013, for all to remember. The Museum has already collected an estimated 400,000 butterflies.

I was thinking that maybe some of you would like to creat a beautiful butterfly and send it the museum. You can create as many handmade arts-and-crafts butterflies as possible. This project may be completed by all ages as individuals or groups.
  1. Butterflies should be no larger than 8 inches by 10 inches.
  2. Butterflies may be of any medium the artist chooses, but two-dimensional submissions are preferred.
  3. Glitter and all glitter-related products should not be used.
  4. Food products (cereal, macaroni, candy, marshmallows or other perishables) also should not be used.
  5. If possible, e-mail a photograph of your butterflies, to butterflyproject@hmh.org.

Mail or bring your butterflies to:

PLEASE READ THE INSTRUCTIONS: It will make your life a lot easier!

I am really a ditz sometimes!
Yes, I admit to it....quite a bit actually,
but I guess that is how we learn
Right?
from our mistakes.

I am participating in Cindy's Fall Banner Swap and I was suppose to make 8 scarecrows and 4 letter "L's". As you can see from the photo's below I did make my scarecrows and letters I spent hours working on them and although they didn't turn out exactly like what I was wanting I thought they were pretty cute.

THEN
as I'm getting ready to go to the post office to mail these little guys to Cindy
I looked at her blog
and discovered I had made them wrong
Oh man!
How could I be so stupid?
Why didn't I read the instructions completely?
I was suppose to put my scarecrows and letters on
5 x 7 TRIANGLES.
Okay, get ahold of yourself Sherry
and get BUSY remaking the banners!

Here are my finished triangle pieces.
I have 4 of each scarecrown and 4 letter "L's"
and then I made 4 crows as an extra
that Cindy can do with as she pleases.
So my note to myself is to
PLEASE READ THE INSTRUCTIONS
it will make your life a lot easier!

Birthdays and Banners

My Mallory turned 10 on Sunday and we had all of the kids over for her birthday party.
It was fun but exhausting.
I'm definitely getting old!

I made 14 door size banners for the girls that were at her party.

some were "Girls Rock" and some were Peace signs

and then I made Mallory a bigger one for her room

My grandson Anthony, or Buzz Lightyear, turned 3 a couple of weeks ago

I made a Toy Story banner for his party
and then the reverse side has Disney's "Cars" fabric on it
because his bedroom is done in "Car's".

They turned out so cute, they are really easy to make and they make a nice decoration.
I think I am going to make some more!

My DIL made this up using the pictures of my 5 oldest boys. So funny!
